Thank you; however, the ductwork coming directly out of the airhandler (plenum?) and the handler are insulated. We have had 3 different A/C companies check the pressure and freon levels, and
You can try to insulate any exposed duct from on top of the furnace and the coil box. Most air handlers are insulated within their own chasis. All you really need is approx. 1"- 1 1/2" of glass insulation.
Air handlers are insulated with a thin layer inside. If they are insulated further, that is a help to save energy, but it may make it difficult to service.
My house has 2 heat pumps. One airhandler is in the attic, one in the crawl space. My question is: should air handlers (sheet metal) be insulated, and if so, what's the right way to do it?
I need to replace old rusted airhandler. I have new room addition and need a strong system to handle 2800 sq.ft.. Can you recommend proper size and brand?

if the geothermal heat pump has at least two stages of output with the second stage not electric resistance, if the airhandler uses the more efficient electrically commutated motor (ECM) blower and the COP is at least 3.3 for a closed loop

the air passing through the handler is cold...the air around the unit is hot and humid. Kind of like a cup of ice-water on a hot day...it condensates on the outside. But why is my airhandler the only one that is doing this?
