Bob meets Arquitectonica's Laurinda Spear, an architect who has come up with some eye-catching and very tropical ideas for the project. Due to local zoning laws, the original concept of expanding onto the back deck has changed. Instead, the kitchen will be extended to the side. A bananaleaf motif has been chosen and will appear throughout the addition.
Bob frames an exotic partition wall to resemble a bananaleaf in a Miami kitchen renovation. The crowning pieces have been pre-cut and are ready for installtion.
Bob meets with the contractor to demo the old patio slab and layout the new bananaleaf patio. An imaginary graph is applied to the patio area and the new patio shape is then measured and marked.
Bob and Ed show us the tricky process of tying in the old floor slab with the new, and work begins on the new family room partition that will take the unique shape of a bananaleaf. To make sure the new space stays cool, a new HVAC unit and roof insulation are installed.
We install a state-of-the-art spa on the lanai, complete with all the bells and whistles. Inside on the new banana-leaf partition, a new product called Ligna by Formica is applied for a unique woodgrained finish. Roxana Patino gives
