" If you already have an existing ceiling light controlled by a walls which. You can install a basic ceiling that. The wall switch will turn on the ceiling fan. Instead of the old ceiling light. The -- tuning controls the -- speeds. And to switch changes -- fan blade directions. Turning one way to -- down in the summer for cooling. And the other way in the winter to circulate heated air trapped up near the ceiling. Ceiling fans connect comfort. And can reduce heating and cooling costlier home. If you want to install a ceiling fan with a ceiling light Hilton. With a separate switch to control each. You'll need an electrician to install an additional circuit. But first simple ceiling -- like this one here's now. The first step is to find the circuit breaker for the ceiling light and turn it off. Remove the fasteners holding the ceiling light cover. And remove the cover. Remove the lights from the fixtures. Locate and unscrew the nuts or screws holding the fixture to the ceiling electrical box. And twisting the fixture until the screw heads are over the holes in the slots. Lower the ceiling light from the electrical box. Carefully unscrew the wire nuts from each wire. Being careful not to touch the bare wires unscrew the black wire first. By unscrew the wire cap and separating the wires. Next. Unscrew the wire cap on the white wire. Last separate the copper ground wire from the green ground wire on the fixture. Green wires always designate a ground wire carefully separate the wires and remove the ceiling light do not touch the bare wires until you test them. As a safety measure use a voltage tester to make sure the circuit is dead touch one probe to the black wire and one to the white. No voltage should be present. Every ceiling fan is different so closely follow the directions that came with your ceiling that pass the electrical wires through the center of the ceiling mounting plate and screw the plate in place. It's important that the plate is level. Place washers between the plate and the conduit box to level the mounting plate if necessary. Slide the rubber mount of the ceiling fan motor into the ceiling mounting plate. Some brands have a hook that hooks onto the plate. Attach all the green ground wires from the ceiling fan bracket and motor to the copper ground wire from the ceiling. Secure the wires together by sliding a wire cap over the two wires and twisting them together. Next place the end of the black wire from the ceiling and the black wire from the motor and using a wire cap twist them together. Now place the end of the white wire from the ceiling next to the white wire from the motor and using wire cap twist them together. Following the instructions that came with your -- Attach each fan blade to the blade bracket with the supplied screws. Next pass the motor control wires through the motor cover. And secure the motor cover to the ceiling mounting plate. Tighten the screws that secure the motor cover to the ceiling mounting plate. Next attach each blade bracket to the fan motor with the correct screws. Fasten one blade to motor. And then attach the blade on the opposite side. Grew on the third blade. And then before. Until all the blades are securely screwed in place. Next check with a ruler to make sure that the ceiling fan blades are level. Uneven blade height will cause the fan to wobble. The edge of each blade should be within 18 of an inch from blade to blade. If any of the blades are out of alignment. Follow the instructions that came with your ceiling fan to balance the blades. Next passed the motor control wires through the base plate for the motor control unit. And fasten the base plate with screws to the bottom of the motor. Now connect the plug of the motor control. To the plug hanging from the bottom of the ceiling fan motor. Mount the motor control switch housing to the base plate with the correct screws. Securely tighten each of the screws. Turn on the circuit breaker. And then turn on the wall switch and your new ceiling fan is ready to provide comfort as well as energy savings to your home."
