How to Use a Circular Saw
computer-generated transcript - may not be 100% accurate
" framing stock, use a 24-tooth framing blade. For finish stock and trim, a 60-tooth carbide blade is recommended. For thin wood or thin finish wood, use a fine tooth blade. To change the blade on a circular saw, first, make sure that you unplugged the circular saw from the wall. Never change a blade unless the power's been disconnected. Next, locate the blade lock on your saw."
" Open the guard and insert the blade with the teeth in the front of the blade pointing up, and the graphics on the blade facing out. Replace the washer first, and then the bolt. Tighten the bolt hand tight, and then using a wrench, turn the bolt clockwise a quarter turn more or until snug. To make a straight cut with your circular saw, First, measure and then strike a line on the board you wish to cut. Next, with the circular saw is still unplugged. Release the blade depth lever and set the depth of the blade so it just clears the depth of the board. Then, tighten the blade depth lever. Now, line up the circular saw so that the blade is resting on the scrap side or outside of the line. On the other side of the circular saw, mark the width of the plate. Now, measure the distance between the line you wish to cut and the outside of the circular saw plate, and transfer that exact measurement to the other end of the board you wish to cut. Line up a straight guide board along the length of the cut using these marks, and clamp the board in place. This board will act as a cutting guide for your saw. Before making the cut, protect your hearing with your earmuffs, and your eyes with safety glasses. Plug in the circular saw. Place the plate of the circular saw against the guide and checking one more time that the saw blade is just against the outside of the mark, start your cut. Slide the saw along the guide until the cut is complete. The result is a clean straight cut."
