How to Patch a Textured Wall
computer-generated transcript - may not be 100% accurate
" Damaged wallboard can interrupt the finished look of any room. If you have a small hole in the textured finish, you can make a quick repair using a texture patch repair kit. Textured walls come in a variety of patterns. From the kit, select the patch that will match the pattern of the area surrounding the hole. Holding the patch in place, mark the outer edge of the area on the patch with a pencil allowing the patch to overlap the edges of the hole by at least a half inch. Cut out the patch cutting around the bits of texture. This will make the patch blend in more completely. Now mark the position of where you want the patch to go on the wall with small pencil marks. Prepare the area under the patch by very lightly sanding off the existing textured finish with 120 grit sandpaper. Wipe down the sanded area with a damp sponge. When the work area is completely clean, dry and dust free, peel the backing paper off the back of the patch and place the patch over the damaged area pressing firmly around the edges to set the patch, but don't press on the damaged area. Once the patch is firmly in place, prime and paint the patch and the damage area will practically disappear."
