How to Repair a Dent in a Textured Wall Corner

" A dent in the corner of a textured wall can interrupt the finished look of any room. If you have a small crack in a textured corner, you can make a quick repair using a texture patch kit. Place a drop cloth under the work area to protect the floor. Select the patch from the kit which will cover the crack completely. Holding the patch in place, note where the outer edge of the patch meets the wall. Very lightly, sand the texture off the area where you'll be placing the patch. Wipe the sanded area with a damp sponge to remove all the dust. When the area is completely clean, dry and free of dust, peel the backing paper off the back of the patch and place the patch over the cracked area and press firmly around the edges. Do not press on the damaged area. Once the patch is firmly in place, you can prime and paint the repair to match the finished wall and the damaged area will practically disappear into the wall."

Ladder Work

Here are some tips that will make working on a ladder easier. Use elastic cords to secure a small plastic basket to the top of your stepladder to hold your tools. If you're on an extension ladder, slide a broom handle through a hollow rung and hang a bucket for tools from that. Keeping your tools close at hand, you'll save several trips up and down the ladder.

Laying Tile
Laying Tile

When laying new tile, here's an easy way to save some time before applying any mortar. Dry fit the tiles on the surface you are working with. Next, mark any pieces that will need to be cut. This will help determine how to get the best design and fit, and avoid the mess of pulling up tiles after the mortar is applied.

Hanging Wallboard
Hanging Wallboard

When hanging wallboard on an angle, try this technique. Measure the length from the edge of the wall to the end of the angle. Next, measure the height - think of it as outlining a triangle. Mark the measurements on your wallboard and snap a chalkline.
