" So let's say hi to Tim Woods from the Internet Home Alliance."
" Hi, Bob."
" How are you today?"
" Good. And how are you?"
" Great. Hey Tim, what is the Internet Home Alliance?"
" Well, the Internet Home Alliance is a strong association of companies, and I'm from Southern of Florida. The founding members are Cisco, Sears, Panasonic, [unk], General Motors, and Home Director."
" Yes."
" All of them got together and committed to bring the internet lights out to the consumer."
" Okay. And so, in this house here in Quechee, Vermont----"
" Yes."
" we're gonna try to make the internet life"
" a 2-day communication via the satellite."
" But then the cabling itself is, what have I got here?"
" Well, that's a 2 plus 2. It's basically cast by's and it's RJ, and people would kind of look at that as Ethernet and cable."
" Right."
" People are pretty familiar with those 2 things, and this is what it ends up coming out looking like. You got your cable system right here."
" And we've all seen that, yeah."
" [unk] pairs, right. And then you've got your Ethernet cable."
" Right."
" And what we're doing is we pull all those lines down from the different rooms in the house. You'll see some labels. We've got guest room, the dining room, kitchen. Right?"
" So every room in the house will have capability?"
" Pretty much."
" Okay."
" Pretty much every room. And what it comes out to the consumer, it looks like this. And what consumers are really used to is seeing this in your home."
" Right. Uh huh."
" What we're talking about is adding this dimension where you have the ability and the flexibility to put computers and audiovisual equipment, and all those wonderful things that are coming with your internet lights out into every single room."
" And there's 2 cable connections?"
" You've got 2 cable connections. We had 2 cast by connections in here, and this allows us to do things like streaming videos. We're gonna have high-definition TVs. All of these types of things are allowable because we have this universal port in the house."
" Uh huh. Now, somebody made a big deal about not being able to let you guys install this until after the electrical was already in."
" No. absolutely."
" What is that?-Those inner fears are caused between the standard electrical system and structured wirings."
" Okay."
" There's a kind of a home that's created by your electrical system and you need to be a certain distance apart."
" So you don't wanna cross the wires. You'll keep them too closed together."
" No, no, not at all. That will not be good."
" Avoid to buzz it."
" Right."
" Now, there's a plan up on the wall here that explains what's going on in all the different rooms so, for example, what are all the red boxes?"
" Well, all the red boxes are security. We've got an ADT security systems coming in here."
" Uh huh."
" We've got our audiovisual. You see a peer lens in the master bedroom, and in the great room, we've got our AD system. That's gonna support our Panasonic."
" So we can control from a central location. Let's say we had a 300 CD player. We can control in every room what we wanna listen to?"
" Right."
" Whether we want it loud or low or----"
" Absolutely."
" We've got a lot of [unk], whatever."
" A flexibility. You can do your different music in every rooms you want to."
" Uh huh."
" You have this great control panels. They're gonna be on the wall, but what's even better is we've got this [unk] tablet. It's wireless. You'll be able to carry it around the house with you, and you'll be able to control audiovisual, security, all of those stuff."
" Fabulous."
