Installing Crown Point Kitchen Cabinets

" Well, the kitchen cabinets have arrived and Riley's here with Pat. Now, the 1st thing you always do is unpack them and lay them all over the place, so I guess what we've got here is the refrigerator unit, and you've already installed the unit where the oven and the microwave go, and I think this is meant to be the bake center. But Riley, this is the easy part."
" Right."
" When you got a whole array of cabinets, where do you get started?"
" Well, the 1st thing you wanna do is establish where the top cabinet is going and this is gonna be dictated to a side this refrigerator cabinet. "
" So the height here, which is what?"
" 90 inches."
" 90?"
" Yeah."
" That establishes the top line."
" Exactly. And so what we've done is now that we know what that is, we'll established a line where we wanna hold this cabinet to a level line there, and we're gonna stop, just coming right out of that corner with it."
" Now, this is all new construction, so you assume it's nice and plumb, and no problems, right?"
" Right. You hate to assume anything, but it should be. We're checking them. It's pretty good."
" And where are all those holes you've been pokin' up there?"
" We found a lot of studs for the anchoring of the cabinets to the wall, and we've transferred those inside to the cabinets, and we've predrilled some holes, so we're ready to install."
" You have predrilled. You've done the prep work, so that the holes are gonna line up exactly with the studs. Can I give you a hand with it?-Yeah, sure."
" Okay, we've got a couple of dent in here. We'll kind of slide this in a little bit. Okay. Put another hole here in that corner."
" How was that?"
" It's gonna come to me, just a little bit. Okay. Right there."
" Okay. You happy?"
" Yeah. [unk] get 1 on this."
" Okay."
" Close to me."
" Pat, you're ready for us to put it in there?"
" Yeah. I'll finish measuring up my line here."
" Okay. This is a tricky cabinet because it goes in the corner, and right next to a dishwasher. "
" I think you've got to get out of there before we can [unk]."
" And it will kind of float in there. That's still precisely against the back wall. Hold on a minute."
" Okay. Just keep it away a little bit, and I'll just hold back a little bit when [unk] the fall."
" We've got the door off of it for installation, but this is a nice kind of feel. Let's see here, which is very nifty. It really takes advantage of all the storage space in a dead corner."
" Are you ready, Pat?"
" Yeah, sure. Bring it up to that line if you get there. We'll start out with that top 1 first. All separate on the list?"
" Yep. Go ahead."
" Good."
" Now, when you have the other base units that are all basically stacked 1 next to the other, how do you make sure that your styles are gonna come up nice and flush and tight?"
" Well, I guess this cabinet clamp, which is made for cabinets, and it works possibly 2 ways for you."
" I see it, yeah. So you have to take the doors off 1st, right?"
" Yeah. We'll take the doors off."
" Okay."
" And now show us how that----"
" [unk] the clamp."
" So 1 part of the clamp brings the 2 styles together so, and on this part, makes sure that they're flushed."
" Right."
" And on top----"
" Then what?"
" Really do there the hole right here is all set for you to predrill and screw the cabinets together."
" Okay. So then you drill a pilot hole that is going precisely down the middle of the side."
" Oh, this is really looking beautiful, guys. And Riley, I do like that red hardware for sliding in and out, you know? Bottom mouthed drawer slide. It's very nice. It Pat's got the glass shell going in place. Now the designers picked an interesting color combination. If you think about it, it's the reverse of the outside of the house where we've got a green field with an off white trim. It looks very, very nice in here, and when this gets fitted out with the stove, the refrigerator, the dishwasher, and the corner, it's all gonna work out very nicely. We've got full internet porter granite tops coming in here, and let me show you over on this side what we've got because this is a cabinet that's designed to come all the way to the bottom of the granite. It's temporarily on top of these 5-quarter boards that when the granite is installed, it will run all the way to the back inside the cabinet. Perfect spot for some appliances like the coffee maker that you don't wanna see all the time. Just need to plug in there. Very nice."
