" This is movie star country with landmarks like the Hollywood Bowl, and over in Santa Monica, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion where the Academy awards are presented. To many, California brings the beach to mind---- miles of Pacific coastline and hundreds of the most spectacular beach houses in the world. Now, we're flying right over Marina del Rey, one of the biggest marinas in the country. I think they have room for about 10,000 boats down there. Heading north along the coast, we fly over the beaches and canals of Venice, a California version of the famous Italian City. Venice is undergoing restoration these days and many of the old canals are being cleaned up and build with water again and of course lots of new houses have gone up. Many of them resembling Venetian palazzos. Also newly renovated is the Santa Monica pier. The palisades rise above the Pacific Coast Highway providing some great ocean views to residence of Santa Monica. Although it's red tile roof you see down there, a part of California's architectural heritage, the California-Spanish style, those houses down there in Pacific Palisades look pretty special. Maybe we should think about a California-Spanish theme for our project. And here we are approaching one of the most exclusive beach communities in the US, Malibu Beach. This stretch of the beach at Malibu is known is La Costa. This place is so popular that everyone [unk], but there are a number of old houses here that are being restored and renovated. It might be fun to look here for a project. Here we are right in the middle of it all, Hollywood and Vine, the most famous address in all of movie land. And on the corner over there where the New York Pizza Express is now located, once we had Schwab's drugstore where Lana Turner was discovered sipping on a soda. We'll make a left turn here leaving this intersection going towards Sunset Boulevard. This area, which was once very glamorous, has now turned into a region of the city where you can buy a lot of souvenirs and T-shirts. Sunset Boulevard runs for a total of about 26 miles through the ethnic neighborhoods of Los Angeles through Hollywood through Beverly Hills and finally, it ends up at the Pacific Ocean. Along the way down Sunset, we're gonna be going through some of the most famous blocks of the boulevard where you'll see all the giant billboards for the latest movies and the Marlboro man. And this stretch of Sunset Boulevard through West Hollywood, we find some of the trendier restaurants like Le Dome where you can really drop a lot of cash."
