" This is a warming oven, right?"

" Yes it is a warming oven."

" Heavy, solid stainless steel. "

" First, you have to pull the cord or is it going to fit all the way in?"

" You know I gonna stick my head up in there."

" So this is made by Kitchen Aide and not too many people specify a class like this, and yet when you're putting together a dinner party or when you just have weekend activity going on, it's nice to have, this is electric, right?"

" That's correct."

" An electric warming oven that you could keep stop warm in until the dinner party is on under way. It takes four of those?"

" Two scoops."

" And even in a kitchen as not enormous like this one, it [unk] nicely right under the cooktop. Now, you've got what, six burners here?"

" Six burners, 15,000 BTU usage."

" Wow. The cast are in, that's good."

" What's this round thing on top?"

" It's a simmer plate."

" Next is a buffer between the burner and the pot."

" That's a great good idea. You don't have to worry about burning plastic handles on the pot or really scorching the pot if you're using something on that big a flame. And of course, on the left, we've got a pair of ovens and again I like the contrast to the stainless steel appliance with the mahogany finished on these cabinets, which are actually cherry wood, but when you contrast stainless with a rich tone of wood like that, it's very elegant. And these designs are almost retro to the early microwaves of 20 years ago. Don't you think?"

" It's very hip."

" Yeah."

" It all works very well with the granite that was chosen etc. Now, here is the latest from Kohler, right."

" It's from PRO CookCenter."

" The PRO CookCenter, which is the sink that will help you make pasta and has got an electric heating oven in it. So that you can just fill up the pasta pot right there and of course the pot itself has a strainer and has got 2 other pots that you can steam with that one, you can steam your veggie and you can make a sauce on the pot and chop everything right there. Boy, this is really a neat innovation, isn't it."

" It is because one of the things, is just, it drains itself, so you never have to pull the colander out and worry about scorching somebody."

" So it also, again, you don't have about accidents and it also cuts down on making [unk] which you to wash. That's pretty impressive. All chrome and heavy duty."

" Very nice."

Convection Oven Installation
Convection Oven Installation

Bob joins electrician Larry Dana in the kitchen of the Quechee farmhouse as he installs the Kenmore Elite 30" self-cleaning convection oven. The oven requires 220 high-voltage current as it will be delivering a high degree of heat. Larry recommends hiring a licensed electrician for this kind of installation. Bob underscores that, as a rule of thumb, you should always connect your ground wires first. Next Larry connects the neutral wire saving the potentially hot for last. Rather than putting the junction box back in the wall after connecting the wires, Larry leaves it floating behind the unit to facilitate servicing later on if it becomes necessary. In addition to the aesthetics, another advantage of the flush controls on these newly designed appliances is that without the clutter of toggle switches and buttons, they are a lot easier to read and to keep clean.

Completed Kitchen Tour
Completed Kitchen Tour

Bob tours the completed kitchen at his Cambridge home. The Sub Zero refrigerators have been customized in one area using the same bead board design as the kitchen walls and in the breakfast area refrigerator drawers to match the wood cabinets. Two Jenn-Aire digital convection ovens and a cook top from Brown Stove Works allow for a truly impressive cooking operation. Most of the kitchen is commercial grade with stainless steel. The exhaust vent stove backsplash and the countertops flanking the stove were made by a restaurant supply, stainless steel fabricator in the Boston Area. The counters were fabricated on site from soapstone quarried in Brazil. Soap Stone if cut upon can dull a blade so hard rock Maple butcher blocks from Eastern Butcher Block are laid on top for food preparation.

Oven Hood and Shelving Installation
Oven Hood and Shelving Installation

Bob and Ryley install an resturaunt quality Braun oven hood vent to compensate for the lack of exhaust outside the building. The fan is equipped with two charcoal filters on either side of the exhaust fan in addition to the grease filters. The range will be vented inside the room, and the hood is the best possible solution. Also installed are Metrowire shelves.

Kitchen Design and Appliances in the Miami Condo
Kitchen Design and Appliances in the Miami Condo

The kitchen is set for company, but the counters are clean and uncluttered. Appliances in white complement the adjacent living space in this open-plan apartment. The Whirlpool double-door refridgerator in white, with lots of storage and features, blends with the oven and cooktop, also from Whirlpool, and the Energy Star dishwasher with high-end features like wine-glass racks and special wash cycles. Bob challenged the crew to outfit the kitchen completely by shopping online from Sears.com. Juicers, pots, pans, blender, combination microwave-convection oven, coffee grinder and brewer, were all selected, delivered, and tucked away in this getaway kitchen designed for easy entertaining.
