" I'm bi fold doors will get painted but. Inside stacked washer dryer from whirlpool that really does the job and now let's look at the rest of the job and here -- Christina our homeowner you've got the lighting fixtures in place. Now Christina why have you chosen this type of fixture."

" Well Bob this is my passion I'm a student in historic preservation at Roger Williams university. And I was looking for lighting fixture that would allude to the past yet and I was very excited to find this lighting fixture this antique reproduction -- And I thought that it worked well -- the beautiful tin ceilings."

" It doesn't mean this really hearkens to the in my mind to nineteen twins or twenty right. Absolutely Markus Earley our lighting consultant who makes this. Rejuvenation lamp and fixture company and make all reproduction models of historic styles this is glass is it an expensive -- glass probably in the 300 dollar range okay. Now what other types of lighting fixtures have you chosen for the kitchen that you can't just have one source of light. In a workspace and to supplement this decorative piece we have indirect lighting above the cabinets which -- fluorescent. Yeah in this back space we have the Belfort wed Scott's which is going to go up here has built further manufacture -- makes this now what kind of vote like you. Well you've put in this we stick and that. Single ended -- so that's what a 150 -- 150 close up high up in there yeah it will mount up on that wall and bathe this whole ceiling in white light now is that -- the paint -- white Christina yes -- OK that's also bead -- but that'll act as a big reflective. Exactly surface down here. And then where's mark with the rest of the stove put. Or good this kitchen aid stainless. Hood yes that has a built in light in it and are these sleeves these stainless steel. -- dress up the duct is that something had to have made not a came with the unit OK. And how to they have they attack all do is just connect them and put them up and just connect them in the back."

" Now we're putting the finishing touches on the granite countertop. Installation and let's say hi to Paula -- from a stone here in Johnston Rhode Island. And Paula I want to talk about the product and I want to talk about the installation that this is a beautiful granite what's it called the so called dirty habit two by comes from -- say it slowly. Pretty open to battle -- to -- but -- bathroom -- million product yet end. What what we can see that that gorgeous finished results but when it comes out of your thing gets cut it's a dull gray exactly the granite actually comes and."

" Approximately five by nine sheets."

" Already with the polished top already then we'll cut it to size I see now what is ray doing over here that this is a loose strip of granite exactly he's adding the last piece of granite to the job."

" Which are known in the industry as rails and what he's doing is just attaching and he's going to be using a two part epoxy."

" But this is a clever way of doing this is very often people are concerned that there. Having to cut out a whole. Four square feet of the expensive granite in order to drop in sink or cooktop what we're actually doing is eliminating. One of the longer scenes and also saving granite so that you're not seeing a whole 24 inch seem a product countertop anywhere along. You're just taking just what you need and then leaving the hole and filling in with with two rail with an address and once the cooktop is in place."

" It'll cover. Most of the back portion and the front portion will just -- only be maybe an inch or so showing --"

" And then the epoxy takes what ten minutes to set and they -- direct very quick Buick."

" The final touch for this kitchen is for Howard Brickman to put a finish on the reclaimed pine floor. First he plugs holes and fills imperfections. Then he gives the floor a final sanding before applying the bona tech water based sealer and high traffic finish."

Energy-Wise Lighting Fixtures
Energy-Wise Lighting Fixtures

Here's another great tip from BobVila.com. We all know that switching to fluorescent lighting saves energy and money. But if it s such a good deal, why aren t we all doing it? One reason is the bad rap that fluorescent lighting has gotten from those old-style fixtures we all remember from schools and commercial buildings of decades past. T-12 type standard fixtures are infamous for humming, buzzing, flickering and giving an unflattering cast to everything they illuminate. Those older fixtures can be upgraded with an electronic ballast. They can also be replaced with the new t-8 type fluorescent fixtures that eliminate humming and flickering. T-8 type fixtures last just as long or longer because they weigh less and run cooler, and they save 40 percent on electricity. Installing them on timers or occupancy sensors saves even more energy, and that s very good for business. At home, a lighting upgrade is much simpler. Now you can find a compact fluorescent bulb to fit almost any fixture in your home. While they may take a few seconds to warm up, they produce more accurate color and less glare than standard bulbs, which reduces eye strain and headaches. A new generation compact fluorescent bulb will cost more than a regular incandescent bulb anywhere from $5 to $25. But each one can save you $100 in electricity and last up to 13 times longer. As if that weren t motivation enough, some utilities offer free light bulbs or rebates for homeowners who are willing to make the switch. Best of all, upgrading your lighting saves greenhouse gas emissions. Replacing just one 75-watt light bulb with an 18-watt compact fluorescent can keep one ton of carbon dioxide emissions and 20 pounds of sulfur oxide out of the atmosphere. Kitchen Lighting
Kitchen Lighting

Lighting design is an important part of any kitchen. A single overhead fixture can make a room seem flat. You want to try and highlight those areas you use the most. One way is to install task lighting under the cabinets or use it to uplight objects. For ambient light, use track lighting to open up the room. You can adjust the levels by using a dimmer switch. This allows you to accent certain areas to complement any occasion.

Mood Lighting
Mood Lighting

If you're looking for ways to add some character to your house, try designing some mood lighting. A single overhead fixture can make a room seem flat. To really brighten up a room, try using wall washers and uplighting for ambient light. Hiding lights inside casework or with sconces is great for accenting certain areas. For a more romantic scheme. bring down the ambient levels and try uplighting plants or other objects.

Track Lighting
Track Lighting

Track lighting is a great option if you want versatility in a lighting scheme. Tracks can be hung at different levels and are held in place with set screws to support the weight of several fixtures. The track heads themselves can be redirected at different angles to achieve the desired effect, and because the track itself is electrified, you can swap fixtures in and out with just a twist.
