" Well it's nice to have a professional paint colorized join you. If you can't do that we've developed a tool a paint selection tool at bobvila.com. That anyone can use. First you can bring up the basic style of your house is -- a colonial or ranch house. Then you might want to start with the gallery of color. Try on different color schemes until you find when you like. Say you find a grouping you like to let you want to change one of the cars. You can go to the custom tab and dial another shade or a whole other color and add it until you get to look you want. We picked and chose from a couple of different groupings to come up with a nice historical scheme for our house. You can save your project and even email it to your contractor or your designer. Then what's really great is you can go to the paint estimator tool and figure out how much paint to buy and even where to buy. Of course colors will vary from computer monitor to monitor so you should always go to the store and CD actual paint chips with your own eyes before you box. But this'll give you the option of printing out the specifications page with lots of different options so that you can save a lot of time and head scratching when you're actually of the --"

Home Structured Wiring Explained

Joe Kreis from MJ Cordaro Electric Company explains the installation of a Leviton structured wire system. The system is designed to seamlessly allow the transmission of data, phone, and cable signals within the home. The home was pre-wired at the Simplex factory to plug into a central control panel once the modular pieces were assembled. Each bundle of wires runs from the individual room�s networking box directly to the home�s central system with no splits or connections.

Custom Home Design Using Computer Software

Inspired by the interior wall panels seen in the Winslow-Crocker house in Yarmouthport, Mass. (see tour in episode 1), Bob and crew go to work on replicating the panels in the Modern Colonial project house's dining room. To talk more about the general design of the home, Ben Larochelle, director of custom home plan services for Drummond Designs, visits the project house. Larochelle demonstrates the computer design software that was used to modify the house plans. Using professional design software, Drummond Designs can make custom modifications to any home plan to suit the owner's needs.
