" Robert I think one of the great things about -- the preservation carpentry program here is the fact that you're really working with. Real houses these are pieces for the Shirley eustis mansion here in -- very Iraq. They hit that this is the balustrade from the cupola. So this will actually be installed at the house yes and it. These balusters are they authentic. Copies of the original ones well they are here's one of the original ones."

" These were archive in the attic. And they're they're pretty close. We unfortunately weren't able to replicate the the tenants on them. But these were from the 1970s. And we're reusing these. They're western red cedar and we're reusing them now with the rest of the body is. Western -- this is."

" Light -- its original if you want to part of eastern white right. But probably virgin stands of white fine yes learn how much more vulnerable -- I plan that was available today and also protective of lead paint -- that'll lead paint. -- good for the kids but. Certainly good for protecting the well it good good on the roof and yeah good on the roof indeed well that's going to be very pretty and what's -- what's what's going on here."

" This is us the sticking board setup for a deal for hand plane on. Jack he's making a sash door for the cupola. And on. The construction of this particular piece of sash that goes in the door is. Applied moldings. And one of the things that we. Discovered is that we didn't have a paper cutter or anything to -- doing a fine hand ended up for -- being. A real. George -- be done in mahogany this. Practically -- and went on there you're just taking fresh -- are different from Moscow to draw the we have the -- on. Many of its own using are actually antiques yes there are a lot of the tools we we try to use it. A lot of kids who'll in most big pool that we fly -- how much. Usually cools you right fusion of cool but."

" Sure now I notice in the back you've got a gigantic pair of mahogany doors. -- they also for the for the Shirley eustis Smith."

" these these are actually going here at north Bennet street school and therefore our north Bennet street side entrance which. Originally was our main entrance and they are being reproduced in mahogany they were originally done in. In again eastern white pine in the over the years the panels were punched out. So we're trying to. Bring back to their original glory anyways. -- unfortunately this entrance is used as a service entrance so. We chose mahogany because it was a lot more Bentsen and and woodwork is all along that well in the weather but it does tend to bang up from the bed well it will world we're hoping that people will be coming from the great thanks for OK thank you Bob."

Custom Balusters
Custom Balusters

Consider custom milled balusters for your porch restoration. Carefully remove an original baluster for replication. The millwork will use this as a model to create a plastic profile. The profile is placed in a copy lathe. A pin follows the profile and adjusts the knife to duplicate the balusters. When finished, the original balustrade will be restored.
