" This is our third week here yes are we on schedule we're doing as well as we could be for three weeks into the presence. Right now we're finishing up a little bit of demolition. Sort of cleaning up the last of the bricks that we removed from the old elevator shaft right we've also got a crew that's just come in this week starting up all the framing -- would be dino's construction dino's construction exactly and so he's he's just starting up on his. His job and then actually starting tomorrow we're going to be power washing the facade. Which just had its ancient fire escape removed. Well good but it looks like somebody's been sand blasting in that building right that's -- they were here last week and they sandblasted all the pilings and all the interior bricks so this is the second floor this is the second floor will be an apartment on the side of our Florida fourth floor apartment right. And let's take a look at what the proposed layout is here so coming up from the central staircase. We get into the middle of the apartment there and I think as we mentioned each of the units in the bill is going to have a separate layout yet but for this particular when you're coming in. In the middle here you're going to a large living room fourteen by 23 you -- into a Galley kitchen here. Come out you've got a bathroom. And two bedrooms each with its own pretty large closets and yes licences and lots of big closets closets you have plenty of life. When big window in each of the bedrooms and we have also got that third window which we reclaimed after the elevator shaft and fabulous OK good plan."

Installing a Fire Escape
Installing a Fire Escape

Steve Forman from Redi-Exit joins Bob to talk about the extruded-aluminum escape ladder from Redi-Exit that is installed at the Rowley home. Forman stresses that secondary exits from bedrooms would greatly reduce fire deaths in this country. Smoke detectors can alert the residents, but only a means of escape can save them. For around $1100 this latching, fully mounted ladder can carry up to 800 pounds in case of emergency.
