" And this particular -- how do you figure out where to install such -- well I think you have to look at the location of the house in this case the house is built on east west access yeah. And so this part of the house and this is Doucet. Which gives us the Natwest Easton obviously in southern alliance and yet. So you get the maximum amount of sunlight in the winter months that's right yeah but what's the rest of the house rivals an octagon here which is part of the living room. This house goes around look at these. The water side of the house. So when you go around the octagon is very little western exposure to the house most of it now eyes as the northern exposure that's -- is this big porch that faces due north and isn't it beautiful view of the great for summer house sure we want to share it. But it would not work. Or greenhouse since we don't have any song generally speaking it's a bad idea to try to -- any kind of source based on the north side of a property right woman generally speaking just is not an idea absolutely yeah. And this house decided to take advantage of summertime. On this base here. But boy and a winner there must be some wicked wind coming across oh yes and it's and that's another reason why you really should never opponents quotes on space -- the north side -- house because not only me -- gets sun. The -- a terrible heat loss -- you'll have icicles inside. Now what about the eastern side where you could maybe put a lean to on there. Well again it's not facing due south if you could put -- space facing due south -- much better off consuming get the maximum use. So this whole eastern side is the -- kitchen and family room addition. And of course it opens onto the stair space that you really wouldn't want to make any changes here. That's right in the shuttle model we built for Diana to Charlotte and plants that --"
" After you've got a model already here of the proposed cut greenhouse space tell us more right. Well one this is a model of one inch to a foot. Which we feel -- very important let's Diana really understand what's going to happen to the final perhaps you almost walk into it well that was the idea that you can actually get down and CNC on the lightning traveled."
" During the dead -- that's pretty important."
" How did you come about with this design. Well. It's a finished house. And weeks we're trying to do was take elements that exist in the house and can reuse them. And get it to look like this was always here that it does not additions to the front of the house it's something that has been used to for a long time OK and so we want to make it feel like it's always been here."
" In that idea this. Yeah vestibule was created out of a little gable end in this form here we."
" Took on -- reform it's on the second story there and of course the octagon is at the other end of the -- we've taken the same facets here which is again repeatedly."
" Octagon. And then we'll just continues on down the same picture always wise now why not bring it all the way down -- Well actually look at that person -- an idea that Diana had. And it's not a bad one. Because -- trying to get the maximum amount of sunlight and so this greenhouse and so you want."
" The most glass you can get on the -- you want the biggest roof."
" And the fewest number of windows but at the same time we do you do some ventilation. One of the problems is that yes it's hard to heated greenhouse. And you have to address that specially insulated glass. And heat and thinking about that but what's even more important in the summer."
" If you're going to use this is all around greenhouse for plants you've got to cool."
" We hold the wall back enough to give us into windows in the front. And then up here in the roof we put venting skylight OK so if you have."
" All of these vertical elements operable you can create. Kind of a convection current from the grade going up. And coming back out on these -- that's correct -- Then why have you decided to sink it it looks like you're going down to three feet below grade well as I said we want to continue the roof line down and then. And it's the same time we want to get down on the maximum usable space right and protect the great."
" At the vestibule grade which is here yes then she had no had so usable space and greenhouse to be restricted."
" Bob what I really love about this model. Is that the mean things as you walk and you have his vestibule truly defines the space from him and the number left without the working greenhouse which you can see -- walking and that -- as defined by its own door which are separated in terms of humidity is separate right. Which is so critical element of the white I'm finally going to end up with a mud room. Yes that was a common house had."
" From the beginning in that want it didn't have a really New England type all year round entrance. And that the other secondary exits to the house was here and again."
" It had no airline -- to solve two problems one may have a new vestibule. And then we have a second vestibule. In this portion here right over -- which is going to give them a mudroom off into the kitchen."
