" It's been six months since we broke ground and any project of this magnitude of you can get it done in six months and bring it in -- budget you're very lucky. We've been looking at almost every -- and you've got. Our friend Shelly got over here has been helping you with the interior design. I got. This thing you know what are you working on over at this end of the room."

" prepare -- we went for the investment of the good blind and I think this is a linen textured blind by Bally. It gives joy and light diffusion and a pretty good sense of privacy of people's. And and it creates a nice quality in the ground."

" The main thing due to invest here at fit the gable end wall where you've got this. Big expansive windows that I was looking at earlier from the outside patent is light control and privacy."

" That's right that's right and and of course that. Would be the more expensive items so we. We got this beautiful wrought iron. Line that brings the blackout in the room hanging rod the rod and that's made by graber and then we just I just -- some fabric Rayon fabric that has some nice. Homespun quality to it and just draped it over with no so -- stereo expensive register is seven yards of fabric and not a blends for the."

" The good tip -- you know you put your budget into the lines where you're gonna last forever. You've put in a nice rot the wrought iron and then just have an expensive fabric for now right and then what as the NASA love later on you can get. Bigger draperies and that's the purchase got to be big to get out of this is a complete bedroom suite I was -- in here right."

" It's like that they they had had really nice furniture before and they felt it was time -- the new addition the room has a bit of a contemporary feel good luck this plant is just traditional well. Storage was a key item here Bob and we needed someplace to put extra things like blankets this has floors and it as well I couldn't sweaters or whatever. They need to have to put in the drawers and this is all coordinating. Furniture from the home life story. -- take up on a mission style arts and crafts style that's a popular today didn't. And the nice part of this furniture comes in three different colors and you can mix and match them we chose to match the black and the campus can. And the black has the tan top so everything pulls together even though they're not perfect matches -- I think they compliment beautiful."

" And that the bed linens look very trendy enemies -- this what everybody's doing now instead of bench presses these quilts."

" That's right that's right -- say. To do today we've covered it down comforter. With the do bay and Linda and I went out on a shopping trip to an expensive department store and this is the look we want but the ticket was a little higher than was in our budget. So I found these at a discount linen shop. And -- are -- KL 250 camp were killed them house with a 100% cotton and the chancellor ten dollars a piece and how much was in this for sixty dollars for the king size good going and really adds a nice touch. It's great that you can find pieces of furniture I mean this looked almost like an antique over here doesn't it does look to take off as a set -- crafts movement of furniture gust of -- designs and it's somewhat shaker style to -- functional. And it offers a lot of storage space they have a lot of vertical space in this room Britain and they were able to carry off what -- really nice like the raised panel doors yeah solid wood it. If that complements the doors that we have put -- on right now. On the closet what type of carpeting did you choose here's some Berber carpet very practical on it's a nylon and it. Has the same sort of natural homes that were brought and the walls are stone best eaten and -- natural slopes and -- colors in the strait and -- and -- remember what we're."

" in here and you were kind of not obsessing that you -- a little bit worried about the color of the walls is a great to see how -- use different shades and hues of the same color away. You end up with a lot of variety. And then of course the work that up Paul and bill in the carpenters did. I mean it's such a nice touch when you go to the trouble of reproducing moldings so that the match the rest of the house these are newly milled. To look just like the moldings that we have from the 65 year old house and I opened o'clock we have to act rates start my actions are continually gotten. You've got a double door closet here. That I guess is Linda -- That's very nice. And you move did lucky lady definite and in your husband has these things were taken that's I don't know comments on the size no confidence and I'm not. But it looks great it is so efficiently laid out. So you do anything special here on."

" Yeah but the palace was chosen by the choice of Sarah Allen lamb and it and the dark gray boot and the floor has all the sort of confetti color and it was it was kind of fun and and I think enhance Linda's sort of whimsical art style that she likes and the accessories and what and I just chose the blue as a as a nice complementary color and they had some artwork. Already and that color and we brought me on accessories on the shelf."

Selecting and Installing Window Treatments
Selecting and Installing Window Treatments

Bob and interior designer Leslie Curtis discuss the window treatments in this episode. Curtis is working in the dining room, where Kevin Murphy from Smith + Noble is on site finishing up the installation of the companys window treatment hardware. Curtis chose a twisted rod made from mahogany and located the curtain rod brackets outside of the windows frame for a better view of the homes landscaping. The curtains are shipped with the rings attached and are ready to hang once they are unpacked. Bob screws the first finial into the predrilled hole in the curtain rod and slides the rod through the curtain rings. Then, the second finial is attached and the rod is simply placed on the wall brackets. Curtis ordered curtains slightly long to create a slight puddle of fabric at the floor for a more formal look.

Starting with the window treatments, the designer shows off the simple white cotton swags with a puff. Next stop is the Victorian inspired bathroom. The floor features small white hexagonal tiles with random black tiles. The great room is twenty by thirty two feet, featuring Victorian wicker made from willow with natural green stain. Then they go down the long thirty-foot hallway. In the hallway the designer shows off the unique design features of exposed studs. They walk through the home pointing out Victorian influenced lighting and decorative pieces. Going upstairs, each bedroom is themed and colored accordingly to its use, fishing and nautical for the boys and pink for the girls. The Yankee ingenuity and second-hand furniture pulls together this comfortable, authentically Victorian family retreat.

Bob is joined by Kara Roberts of Smith & Noble, who shows the newly installed metal blinds and curtains. The blinds have a brushed metal finish to coordinate with the rest of the apartment and were ordered custom from their online catalog. Smith & Noble also supplies custom bedding, like the linens and slipcovered headboard selected for the Miami condo. The X-shaped table at the foot of the bed is a reasonably priced accent piece of split bamboo, also from Smith & Noble.
