" This abroad hood that can be used with duct work of one of the key things here that we don't have. An external duct chase exactly right we gotta be that things. Inside the room yeah basically all we're doing is filter the best choice but this is the best that you can do under the circumstances in here because we got a historic building and everything else. We don't have an -- out to the open air but we do have this. Hood which includes these charcoal filters on either side of the exhaust fan. Which are one of the key things in this together with that the grease filters that go on the outside despite the best you can do. To get. A good installation -- going to control you know who smells and everything else from getting into the open area. And it -- right up on this two brackets -- I -- that's right absolutely. Insurance already. But the design attitude it's not too big not too small. And it's going to fit in with the scale of what we've got here. -- now we just trying to -- to business. Now this other shelving that you see around this is what they called metro wire which is pretty much professional kitchen equipment. And just but we can go Ryley and I started fiddling with -- and installed watch. All right it is nice twist her car under. Curtis -- this is I restaurant so I mean really -- restaurant style and quality installation. And what what we're doing here -- basically putting in. A natural wash system shelving. Which is very elaborate we're gonna look at it in the -- and a minute. The part that right is getting ready to install as the key to the metro warp system and these. Vertical. Standards. Or. Brackets. Really they're heavy -- I mean this very sorry very heavyweight stainless steel and the what makes it plausible is that you. Fasten it directly into. Studs on the law."

" I'm -- to drill through all this stainless steel. Well first thing we're doing is he's -- little temple and it's to bits are kind of float honest but the other thing that's interesting is we're not using wood -- in this. Metal cutting bit. It is was it like hardened steel targets coats cobalt. In the in the pit itself has ahead on it that's flatter you can see enough that this is a flatter head and and -- cut and fit okay let's take us to go right through."

" Christianity -- hated these for each one of these so. -- you're drilling holes there let's take a closer look at that the actual storage system because you get all these different accessories for example add these rods you can. Put together self selected CF there by adding the brackets on to the bars. And they go right over there and write like that. The end there. And then the one on the other side here. And again this is so chrome plated -- the wire. And then your your shelf itself. Has these quarters with the circular. Pipes almost that fit right over the tops of the shelves. And -- software corners in. It becomes a nice tight fit thing about it is once you get all these fasteners -- stud wall back there. In our case we've got plywood behind us in the field you can -- us. Stuff and you know you don't have to worry about putting -- heavy heavy items on -- it's it's gonna hold. -- the only accessories flair with this size large straps that you can hang. Either right off the bridge there were on the fronts -- shelves now all these different components can be arranged in a variety of configurations."

Convection Oven Installation
Convection Oven Installation

Bob joins electrician Larry Dana in the kitchen of the Quechee farmhouse as he installs the Kenmore Elite 30" self-cleaning convection oven. The oven requires 220 high-voltage current as it will be delivering a high degree of heat. Larry recommends hiring a licensed electrician for this kind of installation. Bob underscores that, as a rule of thumb, you should always connect your ground wires first. Next Larry connects the neutral wire saving the potentially hot for last. Rather than putting the junction box back in the wall after connecting the wires, Larry leaves it floating behind the unit to facilitate servicing later on if it becomes necessary. In addition to the aesthetics, another advantage of the flush controls on these newly designed appliances is that without the clutter of toggle switches and buttons, they are a lot easier to read and to keep clean.

Completed Kitchen Tour
Completed Kitchen Tour

Bob tours the completed kitchen at his Cambridge home. The Sub Zero refrigerators have been customized in one area using the same bead board design as the kitchen walls and in the breakfast area refrigerator drawers to match the wood cabinets. Two Jenn-Aire digital convection ovens and a cook top from Brown Stove Works allow for a truly impressive cooking operation. Most of the kitchen is commercial grade with stainless steel. The exhaust vent stove backsplash and the countertops flanking the stove were made by a restaurant supply, stainless steel fabricator in the Boston Area. The counters were fabricated on site from soapstone quarried in Brazil. Soap Stone if cut upon can dull a blade so hard rock Maple butcher blocks from Eastern Butcher Block are laid on top for food preparation.

The kitchen is set for company, but the counters are clean and uncluttered. Appliances in white complement the adjacent living space in this open-plan apartment. The Whirlpool double-door refridgerator in white, with lots of storage and features, blends with the oven and cooktop, also from Whirlpool, and the Energy Star dishwasher with high-end features like wine-glass racks and special wash cycles. Bob challenged the crew to outfit the kitchen completely by shopping online from Sears.com. Juicers, pots, pans, blender, combination microwave-convection oven, coffee grinder and brewer, were all selected, delivered, and tucked away in this getaway kitchen designed for easy entertaining.

Bob and Chris Vila are in the huge kitchen of the Manhattan Brownstone with floor-to-ceiling cabinets and oversized elements that take advantage of the abundant space. The island is a full 96 inches wide with front-facing deep cabinets and drawers with panel fronts that match the wainscoting throughout the kitchen and living space. The appliances are large-scale, professional quality, and stainless-steel. The 48-inch Wolf range has six burners, a central grill station, and convection and standard ovens. The Wolf range hood is also stainless steel, and functions as a smart appliance, responding to heat by automatically turning on and adjusting its fan speed. The hood vents to the outside and has halogen lighting. A pot-filling faucet sits above the stove for easy filling of large pots. The stainless-steel sink is made by Julien of Canada and features front drawers for sponge and scrubber storage.
