" Home owners want homes today that are comfortable, energy efficient, and durable. A product that's really rise in popularity is fiber cement board siding with me today is Steve Booz, whose a business manager for CertainTeed, and tell me about this product and why it's gained so much popularity in recent years?"
" You see our CertainTeed fiber cement siding has done really well in the marketplace. It competes a lot with wood, but it doesn't have a lot of the problems of wood, it won't crack,"
" someone who has wood on there home or hardboard siding that will really match the architecture that they already have."
" I supposed that's one of the advantages because these grains look very real."
" Yeah, it's a great wood grain product, so, it will give the homeowner the same look what they have been used to for years, but with a lot less maintenance on the product."
" Now what is the design for the energy-wise home?"
" The design we're using here is they're going to use our vertical siding. They come in 4 feet x 8 feet sheet, and they're going to cut them up to fit the architecture of this house."
" Tell me about the product and how it's made."
" Sure, the product"
" Now, how long does this product expected to last and will it delaminate?"
" It won't delaminate. Even in freeze-fall areas, we don't have that issue here in Southern California, but even in northern climates the product will hold up very well. It will hold paint for really as long as the paint manufacturer warrants their paint and the products warranted itself for fifty years."
" And the types of paint? Any type paint work with this?"
" Acrylic paints, we want to stay away from the oil-based, but any normal acrylic house paint will work very well."
" How long would the paint job last with fiber siding as compared to wood?"
" Well, the good quality acrylic paint, you should expect to have to repaint maybe every 12 to 15 years."
" Wow, that's really good, and what about durability in terms of storm, hail, that type of things?"
" Yeah, the product is very hard and very impact resistant as well compared to other sidings such as vinyl. It's going to standup to hail much better."
" What about fire?"
" It's also fire resistant, with a class 1A fire rating, which means it wont burn on its own."
" Steve, where can we buy this product?"
" The product is available through most professional lumber yards, where builders and contractors normally purchase their products."
" Well thanks for being here."
" Thank you Steve."
