The crew is on the new roof deck to apply a rubberroofing material. A thin layer if adheasive is applied and allowed to set up before the the rubber is rolled into place. Bob also deiscusses the flashing rubber that will be installed around the raliing posts.
House three of the Elmwood project. Bob tours the next project the Castle of Elmwood. The goal is to reinforce an old sundeck for building a deck with a hot tub.
Bob and Chris Vila meet Dino Koukoudakis from Dino's Construction who is installing a custom rectangular skylight from Wasco. This four-by-six foot argon-filled, low-e coated skylight comes ready to mount from the factory. Taking a look at the opening from below, Bob and Chris point out how the natural light provided by the skylight opens up the bedroom to natural light, giving the space a larger look and feel.
The carpenter shows Bob the railing on the deck off the master bedroom. Explaining that code requires it to be 36 inches tall. The carpenter then builds a piece of railing from scratch. Explaining how to line up the holes and pre-drill them to insure a quality job. He also hides all of the galvanized screws and nails by putting them on the bottom side of each piece.
